Don't call, mother
Sir: I was interested to read Charlotte Roe's article 'Adoption is never simple' (7 October). It helped me to understand what it must be like for a mother to give up her child for adoption, which I appreciate must be incredibly difficult and is a courageous thing to do. However, having been adopted by very kind and caring parents who have always made me feel extremely special, worthwhile and loved, I personally have no desire whatsoever to meet my 'birth moth- er'. Should she contact me through an agency, like Jigsaw, I would find it a great intrusion on my life which could cause much unhappiness. Please spare some thought for those of us who have had very happy and fulfilled lives through the adop- tion system.
