AT the moment of writing Squadron-Leader Ma.cLaren is engaged in negotiating what is probably the most difficult stretch of his world flight, those great wastes of the North Pacific alongside the Aleutian Islands where Asia and America come close together. If Squadron-Leader MacLaren is able to pass through this stage of his journey without further mishap, he should reach the North-American continent almost simul- taneously with the American flyers who are now setting off on their homeward journey via Iceland and Greenland.
