We have received another volume (Vol. V., Part II.) of

an under- taking to which we have repeatedly given a few words of well- deserved praise, The Encyclopcedic Dictionary. (Cassell and Co.) The spirit of this work, we may take the occasion of again explaining, is to give a brief account not only of words, but of things also. It com- bines, therefore, the functions of a dictionary and encyclopaadia, carrying out the design more effectively by the aid of illustrations. The idea is an excellent one, and it is well carried out. The volume now before us contains from "parbuck " to " quodling."
