Philip, a synopsis of the works of Pickens chronological -order, the Dictionary proper, and- it new and most enlightening Index to Originals. This latter, compiled by Lieut.-Col. W. Laurence Gadd, giving the names of people and places (with references) who are supposed to be the originals of well-known characters and scenes, will fascinate lovers of the works of Dickens with a taste for historical detail. Another book about Dickens, recently published by Messrs. Cecil Palmer (7s. 6d) is Dickens in London, illustrated and Written by Mr. Arthur Moieland, with an introduction by Mr. F. S. 'Johnson. "Its main interest," according Mr. Johnson; lies "' in the-illustrations at a change:front the uncom- promising actuality of photography." It has achieved its modest purpose delightfully.
