Mr. H. V. Morton's Spell of London (Methuen.. as. 6d.)
consists of little sketches of life in the style that has won him- the admiration of a great public. He tells of the Shepherd's Cottage in Little Stanhope Street,- dating from A.D. 1618.! While musing on Shepherd's Market did he hear the -hoof, beats of Brown Bess thundering through Landsdowne Passage ?, —or is it mere fable that the Berkeley Street end was barred,', so that Dick Turpin should not escape that way ?
