Nothing new has happened in France this week. M. Buffet's
promptitude in removing Admiral de la Roneiere le Noury from the command of the Mediterranean Squadron for his recent letter has calmed down the opposition to the Government, and just now controversy in Paris turns chiefly on the sincerity of the Orleans Princes in their alleged Republicanism,—a barren ques- tion, which can only be solved either by time, or by a knowledge of their personal characters. Their firm adherence to the Republic would be a great security for the Liberal party, but it would be difficult to express it in any form that would really command the implicit belief of the somewhat cynical French Prem.
