MR. BROWNING AND " STRADIVARIUS."

[TO TEE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."' SIR,—In a contribution to the correspondence on the subject of the " Glory of God," your correspondent, " E. M. Lynch "—I do not know whether the initials indicate a masculine or a feminine personality, so have to give the name without any courteous-. prefix—quotes certain lines from a poem entitled " Stradivarius,' which is attributed to Mr. Browning. The lines certainty do, occur in a poem so named, but the author is not Mr. Browning,. but George Eliot. " Stradivarius " appeared in the volume in which " The Legend of Jabal " occupied the principal place, and is one of its author's most striking studies in -verse.—I am,
