Sir: Undoubtedly the people of Notting- hamshire do have their own way of pro- nouncing certain place names in their coun- ty (Prom cobblestones to juggernauts', 4 December). But Elisabeth Luard's asser- tion that 'Notts has not a spoken 'v' to its name' cannot go unchallenged. What about Calverton, Teversal, Hoveringham or North and South Leverton?
