Sir: Always a great joy to read Mr Waugh's reviews of my books (October 2). One point. Another novel, besides my own excellent work, falls foul of many of the Don'ts among his Rules for Correct Fiction: it's called The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold. I recommend it highly.
