Mea culpa
Sir: In your article, 'Beware of Greeks bearing degrees', 2 September, you quote statements attributed to me. I now realise that my words will cause offence, not only to some colleagues here in Swansea, but also to others, and while they were not meant in a malicious or derogatory way, I must apologise unreservedly to them and to those who may have read them in that light.
Could I also take this opportunity to cor- rect a statement in the article? The tuition fees of students pursuing courses in Greece under the validation/franchising procedures of this university are not payable by any British local authority.
