Sound and furry
Sir: We Canadians were delighted to have Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York visiting us recently. They are a delightful couple, and were welcomed everywhere.
However, we are disturbed by the critic- ism by some of your people of the gifts of furs given to the royal couple. Many of our native people are dependent on the fur trade for their livelihood, and have been ever since the white man came to this country. Is saving the wildlife of Canada more important to the British people than our native Canadians?
On my several trips to Britain over the past few years, I noticed that you are still eating meat of all kinds and wearing leather. I cannot understand your attitude to our fur trade, which is an important part of our economy.
