Poverty's Pupil. By L. E. Tiddeman. (R.T.S. 2s.)—This is pretty

story, in which we begin with the seamy side of life and end with the smooth. Jenny is a characteristic London child, with the curious readiness of speech which that race seems to possess. She has her wits about her, and she inherits from her mother, the unhappy wife of a drunkard, a few sterling principles which keep her, so to speak, on an upright keel.
