Sutia.—A telegram announces the death of Lady Canning, wife of

the Governor-General. She was a daughter of Lord Stuart de Rothesay. The news from India is of no political importance, but the report that the Governor-General intends to extend the Perpetual Settlement to the North-West is confirmed.
