The Balmoral estate, recently purchased by the Queen, extends fully seven miles in length by four in breadth, and includes the best deer-range in the Grampian chain. The purchase-money agreed on is 31,5001. To this has also to be added another 2000/. as a SOlatiATIL to the tenant of Balmoral ; for her Majesty's occupancy during these two or three past seasons has been in the capacity of a. sub,tenant, the premises being under lease to a different party, and of which there were upwards of twenty years to run,..----PertA courier.

The Corporation of Dundee presented to Lord Duncan the freedom of their city, last week, "as a mark of their approval of his public- conduct, and particularly of his exertions is bringing about the repeal of the Window-tax."

Lord Abin-ger, last week, gave " a very interesting lecture on general literature and science" to the members of the Mechanieo Institution at Inverness. After his lecture, he presented to. the Institution a handeonte edition of the British Poets in thirteen, large oolumes.

Nearly a thousand' hares were sent by one of the Scottish Weiser' and Scottish Central trains, one day. last week, for the London market. A steady trade is still maintained betwixt Perth and Manchester and Liverpool, in potatoes, dead meat, poultry, and ego; the two latter chiefly collected is the H4hlands.—Edinbergh itness,

A Nairn fiehing-boat was upset while attempting to eater the harbour, and five out of the crew of seven perished. All have left widows and families.
