Game for a Daimler

with Dame Edna Everage

Hello Possums!

It's not often 1 laugh out loud.at a cartoonist's work. It's not often that a magazine, periodical or publication slides from my jewelled fingers as I roll on my art-deco ottoman in a rictus of mirth. In point of fact, possums, I never do. Nonetheless I've got a lot of time for Michael Heath who is, above all, an extremely nice person to meet. He also goes to a bit of trouble with his appearance (not a lot of trouble, but a bit of trouble). Michael certainly makes a change from the open-necked shirt and jeans brigade you see slouching around Fleet Street these days. Chances are, I tend to suspect, he may go on to bigger things in the photographic modelling spectrum. You don't have to enjoy a joke to like Michael Heath's work. His draughtsmanship is redolent, to this critic, of those savage old satirists Christopher Isherwood used to play with while he was pretending to be a camera in Liza Minnelli's bedroom; and even my son, Kenny, and his sympathetic flat-mate, Clifford Smail, have a bit of a giggle at some of Michael's more permissive down-market efforts.

This week Michael has etched two quality cartoons and the captions are up to you.

Question No. 3

Set by Michael Heath

You are asked to make up a suitable caption for each cartoon.

(The best of these will be printed in The Spectator and every caption printed will be rewarded with £10).

Good luck, and God Speed!
