Stories from Garshin. Translated by C. L. Voynich. (T. Fisher
Unwin.)—The reader probably knows what to expect from a Russian teller of tales, a realism which does not shrink from the most painful effects. These stories are powerful of their kind; but we cannot honestly say that they have any attraction.
