There is later intelligence from Australia, to the effect that

a rich gold- field has been discovered near the sources of the river Murrumbidger, and that many persons had left Adelaide in consequence.

War has broken out in New Zealand between the Natives and the Go- vernment, and it is feared that the results will be most disastrous. Mar- tial law, we are told, has been proclaimed, the Militia has been called out, more troops were expected, and such a war is looked for as has not been known in the colony before.
