your issue of December 15 I read a letter from Sir Henry Page Croft, comparing the increase in the export of manufactured goods from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and U.S.A., and inferring that the United Wingdrim had lost ground because of its Free Trade policy.
If the actual increases are taken, it is plain that the United kingdom 'has made much more progress than either-France or GernianY. No useful comparison can be made with TJ.S,A., which is a young country, and also very large and populous.
Protected rivals in Europe have not increased their eiiport:s- of manufactured goods' to a greater extent than Free Trade Britain :—
