M.A. (T. Vickers Wood.)—We welcome this little volume, not exactly as a new departure, but as a novel and valuable contribution to a kind of

literature now happily coming into use. To supply "a book for reading on Sundays," and at the same time to connect the thoughts of God with the various phenomena and experiences of daily life, is, we take it, to be going on exactly the right path for a teacher of the young; and this is exactly what Mr. Powell does. And he does it with much skill, and in a way as far as possible from the ordinary sermonising and moralising method.
