As we go to press the unwelcome news comes that

Mr. Asquith, speaking in the Commons on Friday afternoon; gave notice of moving that the order for the Committee stage of the Education Bill be discharged. This means, of course, that the Bill is dead. As to what finally killed the compromise we cannot now pronounce any opinion.
