Coucou. Written and Illustrated by Helene Terre. (Chatto and Windus.
35. 6d.)
Tins brief and charming story of a little black French girl who escapes from France and succeeds in joining the Free French in England is particularly suitable as a children's book, especially as it is simply told both in French and in English, the two versions being printed one underneath the other on the same page. It is delightfully illustrated by the author, who is Commandant of the Volontaires Francaises, and its production calls for the warmest congratulations to the publishers, who have found a most original and attractive format for this little book.
