At a meeting of the National Association in Dublin, on
Thursday week, the Honourable F. Ponsonby took the chair. The weekly sub- scriptions amounted to 3811.
The following names have been sultioitted to the protest against the object of the late Orange meeting, since its first publication,—Lords Granard, Waterpurk, lIowth, Arran, Netterville, Cork and Orrery, Scarborough, Wallscourt, and Meath.
Mr. Otway Cave has just paid ,all his tithe arrears and costs. The amount of tithe for three years is 3771. 16s. Pd., the sum discharged for costs is 566/. 14s. t2c/.
The Barons of the Exchequer gave judgment on Tuesday in the case of the King v. the Primate, in which the Law Officers of the Crown refused to allow the grand jurors of the county of Cavan compensation for being detained in Dublin twelve or fourteen days to try the issue in thi4 case. The court unanimously decided that they had the power to order compensation ; and did so accordingly.
At a meeting held in Limerick, on Monday sennight,—Mr. Stephen Rice in the chair,—it was resolved to petition forCorporation Reform. Abolition of Tithes, Vote by Ballot, and the further extension of the Frinchise.
Mr. Tighe, a near relative of Mr. Chapman, Member for West- meath. has been appointed to-the vacant Chairmanship of Longford. 11r. Tighe is a member of the General Association. There was a great number of candidates for the office.
