God's Glory in the Heavens. By William Leitch, D.D. (Strahan
and Co.)—The author of this volume, who is Principal of, and Professor at Theology in, the University of Queen's College, Canada, has given us, under a slightly affected title, a popular and interesting sweelary of the present condition of some of the principal branches of astronomical science. He is fond of episodical anecdotes, which he tells very plea- santly, and of which the story of the discovery of the planet Vulcan by an obscure French doctor is a favourable example. The only fault which we have to find with him is that he has not thought it worth while so to arrange and revise the contents of his book, which consist, for the most part, of scattered papers originally published in Good Words, as to conceal their fragmentary character, and to avoid repeti- tions which, to say the least of them, are irritating and unnecessary.
This obvious duty Dr. Leitch has neglected in a remarkably complete manner.
