The Naval Front. By Gordon S. Maxwell. Illustrated by Donald
Maxwell. (A. & C. Black. 25s. net.)—Both author and artist served as lieutenants in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve during the war. Mr. Gordon Maxwell describes in brief readable chapters the salient episodes of the war at sea. Mr. Donald Maxwell's black-and-white drawings and his paintings reproduced in colour are partly from his own observations, especially in the Near East, and partly reconstructions of incidents like the action between the ' Broke ' and an enemy destroyer or the sinking of the ' Tipperary' at Jutland. They are interesting and skilful ; some of the originals are in the Imperial War Museum.
