On Thursday week the Parliamentary Committee of the Trade Union
Congress conveyed to Mr. Boner Law the demands of the " Triple Alliance " in regard to some matters with which Labour is only indirectly concerned. It will be remembered that the " Triple Alliance " of miners, railwaymen, and transport workers passed resolutions some- time, ago calling upon the Government to abolish Conscription, withdraw British troops from Russia, raise the blockade of Germany, and release• con- scientious objectors. They threatened that the penalty, if the Government refused to comply, would be a general strike. The Parliamentary Committee of the Trade Union Congress announced last week that they wore dissatisfied with Mr. Boner Law's reply. But on further reflection they changed their mind, and on Wednesday decided to withhold their sanction from the policy of Mr. Smillie and his fellow-leaders of the " Triple Alliance."
