The polling at Wailsend last week was as follows :-

Miss BONDFIELD (Labour) .. .. 18,866 Mr. HOWARD (Conservative) .. 9,839 Mr. CURRY (Liberal) .. 4,000 'Miss Bondfield received about 1,600 more votes than were given at the General Election to Sir Patrick Hastings, whom she succeeds. Apart from party politics she will be generally welcomed back to the House of Commons.
