Lord Lansdowne went on to point out how impossible it

would have been for us to reject Serbia's appeal, and how, M. Venezeloe being still in power, we had every right to believe that Greece would fulfil her treaty obligations to Serbia. We shall not comment on the rest of Lord Lansdowne's speech, for the reason that if one attempted to develop the hints which it contained we might be accused of, and indeed be guilty of, indiscretion. We will only say that, unless we misread the speech, we may hope before long to bear of effective help being rendered to Serbia, and very possibly iu ways not altogether anticipated by our enemies.
