been considered by men to be deficient in the sense of humour, and some of us have resented this accusation; but recent events seem to prove the mere man to be correct in his estimate, for had the seventy- eight woman suffragists been born with this saving sense—one may almost say this saving grace—they would not have acted in a way which results in mild martyrdom (!), and the rest of us would not have to deplore conduct which seemeth to most folks, not only unseemly, but almost comic; certainly foolish, as it has probably put the hands of our clock back for a good many years.—I am, Sir, &c.,
