SIR,—When Heligoland was British, and indeed for many years afterwards, until the pasture ground was oecupied by big guns, the leeal milk supply was almost entirely derived from sheep. They were tethered close to the edge of the so-called North Point. If I may quote myself, I find I wrote in the happy days when no one in Heligoland dreamed of Britain committing the folly of ceding the island to Germany :- " Aloft on the Oberland one may wander half the summer day without meeting any one save the herd-girl who comes to untether the patient sheep that bast with pleasure at her coming, and rub their noses against her hands and face as she bends over them."— Iferigoland and the.
