NEWS OF THE WEEK.
THE year that will have begun before our next issue may well prove one of the most fateful that has ever dawned on mankind. If the nations of the world take the right turning, all may be well. If the wrong is chosen, the future of civilization must remain dark and precarious. We have stated elsewhere how all depends upon the solution of the problem of reparations, how that problem in turn depends upon the just settle- ment of the inter-Allied debts, and, finally, how in the last resort both problems turn upon a proper under- standing being arrived at between the two halves of the English-speaking race.
