'An immoral primer'

Sir : The basic philosophy of Mr Simon Raven's articles is clearly revealed in the first paragraph of number 4 in your last issue. 'Food,' he tells us, 'in the long run, is a greater pleasure than sex. Food does not answer back.' This neatly sums np the whole sorry burliness. Mr Raven wants us to treat human beingsias things, feeling frustrated and petulant when they 'answer back.' He prefers not 'to consult any humour but his own. This would serve pretty well as a definition of immorality, and I therefore sug- gest a slight alteration in the heading.

If you, .sir, through your columns, wish to give advice to the young, could you not find someone a little more mature to give it?
