That's entertainment
Sir: I would like to correct a mistaken impression contained in John Simpson's article on the detention of the dissident Harry Wu by the Chinese (`Video show- trial', 5 August).
I assume a typographical error is respon- sible for my eponymous company being referred to as 'Robert Chua Productions'. Mr Simpson stated that my office was used by 'a Chinese civil servant, Lee Yang' to try and sell videos showing Mr Wu being inter- rogated.
My only commercial dealings with him have been to lease time on a large outdoor video screen he owns in the city of Guangzhou (Canton), in order to publicise my satellite television station, China Enter- tainment Television (CE'TV), which is screened through Asia, including China.
As its name makes plain, CETV is con- cerned only with entertainment pro- grammes and I would never use it to air the Wu video. It is entirely untrue to say Mr Lee has ever 'operated' out of my offices, and indeed I would not allow him the use of Robert Chua Productions for the pur- pose of selling a video about Mr Wu's detention.
