GREASE BANDS Winter moths are counteracted by grease • banding trees

with strips of sacking six inches or so in width. A heavy grease should be used and it is a good plan to renew this grease from time to time in case it hardens and allows the pests to cross. If the tree is a staked one, the stake, too, must be banded.
