In a letter to the Lord Mayor, Sir James Graham

signifies the Queen's gratification at the reception given to herself and Prince Albert at the Royal Exchange on Monday-

" The loyalty of the assembled multitudes, the splendid hospitality of the City of London, the order and good feeling which universally prevailed, have left on the minds of her Majesty and of the Prince the most pleasing impres- sion; and I am commanded to convey this assurance to your .Lordship, in the name of the Queen and of the Prince."

Today, Michael Gibbs, Esquire, Alderman and Fishmonger, was pre- sented by the Recorder to the Lord Chancellor, with the prayer that the Queen would approve of his election as Lord Mayor. The Lord Chan- cellor stated that the choice of the citizens was fully approved and con- firmed.

The Lord Chancellor entertained the Judges at breakfast, as usual, on their proceeding to open their Courts for Michaelmas term.
