At a meeting of the Middlesex Magistratee. cvii Thursday, reports
of the Visiting Justices respecting the I louse of Correction and the New Prison were bromeht up. In the firet, the number nf prisoners was 784 males, 302 females, and 20 children. all 0-teleran). healthy and well- behaved ; in the second, 92 males and. 4S 'f'timales, to whom the same observation applied.
A report of the Committee appointed to inquire into the causes of the increase in the number of inquests: since the paesing of the Act of 1 Victoria, chap. es. ancl to reconsider the schedule of ft-es, was presented to the Court ; and after some dieeussion, was ordered to be printed and circulated.
