Fugger and Defuck

Sir: My wife and I have always thought that it was a bishop of Augsburg called Fugger who died of a surfeit of Est! Est! Est! (Restaurant, 2 February). Down here, wine is plentiful and cheap. One of us sometimes has to warn the other, 'Any more of that, and you'll be Fuggered'. Nigella Lawson says that it was 'a German called Defuck'. Before we change our at-home jargon, could you kindly give an authoritative ruling?
