Two excellent little manuals may be mentioned together. Both will
be found well worth study by those who are interested in the subjects which they discuss. These are :—The Chess Pocket Manual, by G. H. D. Gossip (Edward Arnold) ; and The Draughts Pocket Manual, by J. G. Cunningham. "Pocket Manual" is not a figure of speech ; the volumes are really of a most convenient size for being carried about.
