KILLING HORSES
SIR,--it must have been with feelings of deep pity and indignation that all lovers of animals read the account of the Grand National in which three horses were killed and another seriously injured.
It is degrading to all and especially to the young to sec animals exploited and suffering so cruelly in the name of sport, and it is a disgrace to a country that prides itself on consideration for animals that a steeplechase with such terrible hazards should be permitted.
