Electoral reform
Sir: You warn of the danger of electing a Labour government to a further term of office (leading article, 15 October) but in order to carry conviction your warning should be accompanied by an unequivocal commitment to electoral reform which would remove the threat of a government with full legislative power being elected by an unrepresentative minority. In the absence of such a commitment, it is difficult not to regard your warning as being designed more to advance the short term interests of the Conservative Party than the preservation of a free society.
