Common Shells of the Shore. By Rev. J. G. Wood.
With plates by Sowerby. (Warne.)—Mr. Wood's name is a guarantee for the soundness of the information given in this manual. It is rather sternly practical, and not enlivened with anecdote in a way that one might have expected from the author. But it was meant ta be carried in the pocket, and on that account is confined to the business-matter, which is very full. The illustrations are numerous, and there is a good index giving the scientific name of the shell and the locality in which it is found.
