The Spectator's new look
Having had the SPECTATOR for some years, owing to the generosity of a dear friend, I am very pleased with the new look and attitude, which promise full-blooded and ro- bust defence of all that has been, and is. the best characteristic of British life.
This will give support to the new realistic approach of the present Government.
There will of course be howls, threats and insults from the over- educated nonentities, so-called in- tellectuals, now in so many places of influence.
More power to the SPECTATOR'S elbow!

Sir: As a regular reader of SPECTATOR I must say I thought the caricature of de Gaulle on the front page on the week of his funeral tasteless, crude and un- necessary.
The obituary and Denis Brogan's articles were both excellent.
Could we have a rest from the doings of Tony Crosland in Spec- tator s Notebook?—it is becoming tiresome.
Is it necessary to name who sacked Auberon Waugh or for that matter who took him on?
On the whole, layout of the SPEC- TATOR for me is better and articles sharper, more gritty and informa- tive, but there has been justifica- tion for Leslie Gardner's letter to the Editor about trivialities which, I hope, time may eliminate.
