King-swapping
Sir: Why does Paul Johnson (And another thing, 8 February) make such a fuss about England accepting the temporarily or per- manently discarded rulers of France?
Surely, the arrangement has been recip- rocal. The English harboured Louis XVIII, Napoleon III and assorted others. Howev- er, the French took in the youthful Charles II and the aging James II, not to mention that Peter Pan of monarchs, Edward VIII.
