France has committed herself to Poland in a Treaty and
there lies the crux of the whole matter. She has told Poland that she means to maintain the existing situation in the East. In the end France will have to choose between Poland and Great Britain. But that is to put it very baldly. Really the choice need never appear quite so disagreeable as that as, if British policy succeeds, the new arrangement will render many old arrangements obsolete or innocuous.
