EARLY DIGGING Frost, which is a nightmare to fruit growers,
attacks other things in season—rhubarb crowns, celery and so on—but it can be of some help if the soil has been turned before it becomes iron hard, for it breaks up the heavy loam. At the time of digging, manure can be forked in and potash applied where needed, thus saving time later on.
