A Very Simple Story ; being the Chronicle of the
Thoughts and Feelings of a Child. By Florence Montgomery. (Bentley.)—We cannot trust ourselves- to speak of this littlo book ; its pathos is so overpowering. If we wore to look hack on any of the scenes which struck us, if we wore-
merely to turn over the pages and state what any of those scenes were, we could not see to write. And we therefore warn our readers, male and female, to avoid the book, unless they are iudifferent to all human feelings. Otherwise they will do as we did,—cry.
