The Master?
Starting next week, Thames Television gives a second showing to its widely-praised documentary series The Day Before Yesterday, a political history of Britain from 1945 to 1963.
The series draws on historic film, documents and photographs, illuminated by the comments and recollections of people who made history or saw it being made.
Thursday's programme deals with Attlee's inheritance after the Labour landslide of 1945 and the problem of creating the Welfare State out of a war-drained economy.
Next week also sees publication of the book based on the series. Alan Thompson has added to the television material a wealth of additional information and further exclusive interviews with political figures of the period. Fully illustrated, The Day Before Yesterday is published by Sidgwick & Jackson at £2.50 and in Panther paperback at £1.25.
