LETTERS Mostly French spoken

Sir: I was saddened that Mr lain Burgess did not address the content of my letter about the late King of the Belgians (Let- ters, 11 September), but instead saw fit to indulge in an extraordinary personal attack.

The population of Brussels happens to be, as anyone who lives here could testify, predominantly French-speaking, so I hardly see how the locals could take offence at my choice of language for my address. (Mr Burgess would do well to see how many subscribers list their addresses in Dutch in the Brussels telephone directory).
