THE COMING EXPLOSION OF LONDON SIR,—This article frightened me so

much that I for one am now determined not to have more than two children.

Nevertheless is it not rather boneheaded of the Registrar-General to assume that the population will go on rising at this fearful rate? I am inclined to think that sooner or later the overcrowding of our country will bring people to their senses and induce them either (a) to have much smaller families or (b) to emigrate to countries where more people are needed. Thus we may find a smaller population in fifty years' time than we have now.
