Charles Wakeley, a farm-labourer, at Ilebden, near Hook in Somer-
setshire, has been committed for trial on a charge of murdering Eliza Payne, a girl of fifteen, who resisted his attempt at violation.
Four prisoners, convicted, one of highway robbery and three of burglary, have effected their escape from Reading Gaol.
