Polling took place on Wednesday in the Carmarthen Boroughs, when
Mr. Llewelyn Williams, the sitting member, sought re-election in consequence of his appointment as Recorder of Swansea. The result was that on a poll heavier than that at the last contest (January 1910) the Liberal majority was reduced by 951. The exact figures were :—Mr. Williams, 3838; Mr. Bond (Unionist), 2555; Mr. Vivian (Independent), 149. This is not likely to be encouraging to the Government, for there was no effective split in the vote, and the Labour support went to Mr. Williams and not to the Independent candidate.
